THERAPY DOGS, SINGAPORE (TDS) is a non-profit voluntary organisation set up by a group of
caring dog owners who seek to share the unconditional love and affection of
their dogs with society's underprivileged and to provide animal assisted
activities (AAA) to meet their physical and emotional needs.
TDS was formed in early 2004 by a group of volunteers, which
included professionals, homemakers, retirees and students. We provide regular
AAA sessions to seven adopted nursing homes and health institutions, as well as ad
hoc AAA visits. Carefully managed Animal Assisted Therapy (AAT) programmes are
also carried out as often as deemed possible.
Our mission:
- To share
the love and joy of volunteers and their dogs.
- To
enhance the lives of people with special needs, including social and physical
needs.
- To raise public awareness of the role of
therapy dogs in assisting people with disabilities to live more confidently and
with greater dignity.
Please note: Images, whether in photographs or videos, taken
during visits to our adopted homes should not be circulated (this includes mass
mailing, posting on the Internet and publishing in printed material) without
the express permission of the home and TDS. |
