Hi Fellow Volunteers,

It was 14th day of CNY we visited BHID ... sorry, no fire crackers nor lanterns but warm greetings we received from the residents were loud enough to bring in the joy and happiness of the year of the tiger. Our big head dolls added in more funs especially the sporting residents took turns to dance around with the big head dolls. A big thank you to the volunteers for being our big head dolls. Truly appreciate the CNY spirit of our helping hands who made the visit a memorable one. Traditionally, goodies bsgs of mandarin oranges, chocolates and snacks were distributed to the residents.

Visit on 19 February 2010 - Sunshine Welfare Action Mission Home (SWAMI)

Hi Fellow Volunteers,

A wonderful team of 11 Volunteers - human and canine, excluding 3 guests, made PAT visit to SWAMI Home on the 5th day of Chinese Luna New Year . Our "big head dolls" Shana & Ashton led the team to the 3rd Floor of the dementia ward. Big heart Alicia Israel donated 50+ CNY red bags containing 2 mandarins and ang pow of chocolates ... a traditional way of giving to the elderly during CNY visit.  Once again, many thanks to Alicia.

I noted Helen was helping a dementia resident who had difficulty in peeling the mandarin orange and eating it .... Helen you are a pro in feeding the dementia resident who gave you a sweet smile.

We had indeed a wonderful one happy hour of good time interacting with the dementia residents. As usual, our PAT session focussed very much on physiotherapy - walking exercise with the dogs, and communication - interacted firstly with the dogs and then started to communicate with the handlers. Our therapeutic goals could be achieved through your presence, including:

Alicia Isreal with Diva & Magic / Labrador
Helen Lea with Rosie / labrador
Gwen Wong with Chou Chou / Chow Chow
Rachel Foo with Haru / Yorkshire Terrier
Melinda Ann Michael with Chewy / Catacan Sheepdog and Cleo / Dachshund
Lille Tien with Ollie / Poodle
Lilian Quek with Hollix / Mini Pincher X Shih Tzu
Radha Nagesh - Helping Hand
Qinghui with friends, Ashton, Shana & Kyn - Helping Hand
Mabel Ho with Silky / Golden Retriever
Charlie Ho with Stallion / GSD
I hope that we will and always have a big team to come forward to serve the community. The Chinese New Year tradition is a great way to wish peace and happiness for everyone.

Have a happy and warm CNY with your family.

Gong Xi Fa Cia

Charlie Ho

Visit on 12 February 2010 - Thong Teck Home for Senior Citizens (TTHSC)

Hi Fellow Volunteers,

We had a good turn out of 13 human and canine volunteers who spent an hour of joy and laughter with the residents of TTHSC on this pre-chinese lunar new year visit. The "big head china dolls"   Doris Chang and Lille Tien led the PAT team to the canteen area where the residents were seated patiently and eagerly await our arrival. We ushered the CNY with blessing of good health and longevity to the residents and distributed CNY red bags of traditional 2 mandarins and ang pow of gold coin chocolates against the backdrop of CNY music. My heartfelt thanks to Alicia Isreal who graciously sponsored all the CNY goodies and spent tireless hours in packing the mandarins and red packets of chocolates into the CNY red bags. I understand that Alicia has to empty her hubby's wine fridge to house more than 200 mandarins (half of it is for SWAMI Home) God bless you, Alicia.

A big thank you to the following volunteers who brought their 4-legged buddies to help the ever cheerful residends of TTHSC welcome in the Chinese Lunar New Year. It's certainly a year of the Tiger as our fellow canine volunteer Zeus / Great Dane dressed up as a Tiger.  Much appreciated, especially at this time where everybody were busy doing spring cleaning (it is a tradition that every family thoroughly cleans the house to sweep away any ill-fortune in hopes to make way for good incoming luck), shopping, etc on the eve of new year's eve.

Denise Ting with Saber & Camie / Pomeranian
Lille Tien  with Ollie / Poodle
Alicia Isreal and niece with Diva & Magic / Labrador
Lee May Leng with Pfeiffe / Golden Retriever
Marjory Yeoh & Shing Tai with Snowball / Pyreanean Mountain Dog
Ang Lay Hui with Hayden / CKCS
Corrinne Choo with Pebble / Labrador, Maggie / Miniature Pincher & Pica / Shih Tzu
Carmel Haley & daughter with Zeus / Great Dane
Doris Chang - Helping Hand
Charlie Ho with Stallion / GSD
Till then, continue to pamper your 4-legged PAT buddies for their work - well done!

Warmest regards
Charlie Ho
