Visit on 24 July 2009 - MINDSville
Hello Fellow Volunteers,
After a long break due to the outbreak of H1N1, we finally trooped down to MindSville on Friday afternoon .
When the door to the multi purpose hall opened, we were greeted with loud cheers & hand clapping from all our friends at MindSville, eager to take the dogs from us. They were so enthusiastic to start all the walking, grooming & patting activities with our furry friends!!! They sure do miss our visit just as much as we miss them. It is so heartwarming to see all of them (especially with a few that were not so fond of dogs) coming forward to pat the dogs.
A grooming station was "set up" for Cleo where she was pampered with hair brushing & lots of cuddling from the residents. Laughter were abundance when Stallion entertained the crowd with his fetching skill.
The visit ended with a high when the residents started to dance along to the beat of music with our very own Charlie grooving along too!
A big round of applause to the small group of volunteers who made it to MindSville:
- Melinda with Chewy (Catalan Sheepdog) & Cleo (Long-haired Daschund)
- Charlie & Mabel Ho with Stallion (GSD) & Silky (Labrador Retriever)
- Alicia Israel with Magic & Diva (Labrador Retriever)
It is yet another successful visit as they reminded us that joy is the most wonderful gift one can give
Stay tune for the next visit by checking our website for more updates.
Have a great weekend
Cheerio,
Alicia, Magic & Diva

Visit on
11 July 2009- Bethany Methodist Nursing Home (BMNH)
Hi everyone
Thank you to those who made time for this visit. Although our numbers were not big, we had loads of fun, with the dogs being the great entertainers!
As usual, the residents were so eager to meet the dogs that the first group started moving down to the Hall at about 2.40 pm. With 2 groups each enjoying a half hour session, we managed to meet quite a number of patients. The residents had a ball of a time throwing a ball and dumb-bell for the dogs to fetch. There was a big rush each time as Magic, Diva, Mei Mei and Tag competed to be top dog. It was really hilarious watching them, and I am sure it lifted the spirits of the residents, and of us all volunteers as well. And it was heartwarming to see our new and not so new volunteers making a special effort to break the ice with the residents.
Many many thanks to:
1. Alicia Israel and niece Pei Xuan, with Magic and Diva (Lab Retrievers)
2. Fiona Yeo with JJ and Mei Mei (JRT)
3. Ivan Chang with Tag (JRT)
4. Yolanda Chin with Chewbacca (Labrador)
5. Loh Wei Chin, helping hand
6. Goh Kunshan, helping hand
7. Emily Lui and mum Soo Fen, with Polar (Samoyed)
We also welcomed 2 observers, Jay and Wan Nee, who will be sending their dogs for temperament assessment soon.
It was really good to see the residents smile. The best part of this was we had so much fun doing it :) If you missed this visit and all the fun, look out for upcoming visits at our website www.tdspore.org. We look forward to many more of you joining us!
cheers
soofen
